C.S. Lewis’s Prince Caspian, Chapter 9:
A feral bear has just attacked Lucy and been shot by Trumpkin the dwarf. Susan had aimed an arrow at the bear, but hesitated because she thought it might be a talking bear.
“That’s the trouble of it,” said Trumpkin, “when most of the beasts have gone enemy and gone dumb, but there are still some of the other kind left. You never know, and you daren’t wait to see.”
The two girls go off while Trumpkin, Peter, and Edmund skin the bear for food. There is a little exchange between Susan and Lucy:
“Such a horrible idea has come into my head, Su.”
“Wouldn’t it be dreadful if some day in our own world, at home, men started going wild inside, like the animals here, and still looked like men, so that you’d never know which were which?”
When I was re-reading this recently I instantly thought of the Left’s behavior in the last few years.
