LikeLike March 2, 1936, the day after the election. It was not immediately civil war, but there had been politically motivated killings before the election and this intensified after the election – to noone’s surprise. We’ll never know for sure what the socialists would have done had they lost the election, but I assume at least parts of them would not have accepted defeat and intensified their terror campaign which would also have led to civil war.
